When you’re involved in affiliate marketing, easily one of the most major concerns you’ll have to face is driving traffic to your site. And not just any traffic – you’ll need targeted traffic. Here are the top 10 proven ways you can drive quality traffic to your affiliate marketing site and increase your income-generating potential:

E-mail campaigns

Used carefully, e-mail campaigns can easily drive targeted traffic to your affiliate marketing site. This can be done by providing highly relevant and valuable information on the body of the message and then offering a link that will bring the recipients into your site.

To make money online many people jump right in before they are properly prepared. You know that to be a rocket scientist, a doctor, a brick layer, a construction worker, an office worker, a teacher there are prerequisites, things you must learn, before you can be successful, you don’t just jump right in unprepared.

The same applies to the Internet marketing industry even though there are unsavory people out there who’d have you believe it’s a “Walk in the Park” and requires no more than the belief that you can just do it.

And I’ll have to admit, it is a walk in the park compared to what you have to put up with in the working world punching a clock being a subordinate to someone who does not have your interests in mind, but there are still rules you have to follow and pitfalls you must avoid to actually make Internet marketing work for you.

Most people will not make a dime online and yet there are others who will make more in one month than most people make in a whole year. Why is that?

My answer begins with the age-old chicken or egg question, “what comes first the chicken or the egg”? Personally I vote for, well never mind, each argument you or I make comes back to the same old conclusion – I have no clue and I don’t think many of us do either.

But one thing I do have a clue about and know for sure is that to make money online you must first have Passion for the company products and/or service of any Internet business from which you expect to make money.

I will have to say that many online entrepreneurs are so good at what they do that they ignore passion because they can sell anything. But I’m concerned about those of you who are not so knowledgeable at working an online business successfully.

Now, I’m not trying to make anyone believe that Passion is the only thing necessary. Because to be successful you must also have a good website, good marketing, widespread advertising, company support, effective keywords, and etc. Those things are often learned from the company you join – but sidestep Passion and you reduce your chances for success dramatically.

It therefore follows that, if you have no Passion for the company and the products and services provided by that company, again, you won’t attempt to do the work you are being taught…

Internet marketing work is typically not all that difficult or time consuming but it does take motivation caused by Passion to get you off and running with a sustained effort so that you won’t stumble.

You have a great resource in the Internet search engines to search about the Internet Marketing industry for business opportunities, USE IT!

Your research should uncover a company that you like and have confidence in. It should be solid, founded on great principles, and easy to understand with great products and services that are sell-able for which you can have Passion. If you don’t find it move on.

You can find the right opportunity containing the attributes identified above.

Comments like, well, that one sounds good and the compensation plan is excellent so I guess I’ll start that business – does not sound like a decision based on anything near Passion. And remember when you hear that an Internet “guru” does that, don’t be tempted, because as I said earlier they are experienced and can sell just about anything, without being Passionate about the company products and services.

Note: By the way it’s your goal to get to the point where you can sell about anything online. That end skill and goal is a worthy one indeed…

Remember, there are other steps you must make before you step into Internet Marketing but if you don’t first find the right company products and services to be passionate about, all of those other steps may just cause you a lot of frustration instead of bringing you great success.

Not being Passionate about a company and products and services that has market proof that it will sell is a pitfall you simply must avoid.

I’ve told you a little about the Warrior forum, but I highly suggest you go there for yourself and find that there is more–much more than I have covered there. You will be most pleasantly surprised. I guarantee it.

When getting started out in affiliate marketing I would really have loved to have a checklist of things that I needed for every affiliate marketing campaign that I created. I bought tons and tons of products teaching me how to setup profitable and successful campaigns. For one reason or another, those programs and products were not really a lot of use to me. I needed to know what elements needed to be present in every single campaign that I built, but there was no one there to tell me. Instead, I had to find out the hard way through a lot of hard work, research and determination. So in this article, I am going to pass on the information I wish I had been told at the start of my affiliate work, and I am going to give you the 3 things every affiliate campaign should have.

Element 1 – A Hot Niche

Every promotion or campaign you create (especially as a beginner) should be in a hot niche. You want to be selling stuff to people who are passionate about what they are buying, and you also want to make sure that there is sufficient demand for the types of product you are selling in your niche. If you pick the WRONG niche, then you have effectively sabotaged your own campaign from the start.

If you are brand new to affiliate and Internet marketing, then I thought I would share with you my top 3 niches that I like to promote in every time. These are the only 3 niches I think beginner affiliate marketers should start in:

1) Health and Fitness. This is a big niche that covers a wide range of sub-topics such as; fat burning, muscle building, exercise plans, diet plans, skin care etc etc. The demand is huge, the buyers in this market are passionate and will spend a lot of money to fix their problems. It definitely qualifies as a hot niche!

2) Dating. Again, the opportunity here is massive. You could promote dating sites, or information products on how to get your ex-lover back or how to seduce members of the opposite sex. This is a topic that concerns the vast majority of human beings in the developed World, and because many people are embarrassed to seek information out about it, they will often turn to the Internet to do their research.

3) Home Business Opportunity (Bizopp for short). This niche caters to the the members of the rat race who want to leave their day jobs, tell their boss where to stick it, and setup their own businesses to improve their quality of life. Some powerful emotions under-pin this niche and it is a great one to get stuck into. You do not have to lie or tell people how to make money online, just direct them to websites selling good products on home-based business.

Element 2 – A Good Product

You need to be promoting a good product in your campaigns, and this is something that is over-looked far too often. You do not want to waste your time, energy or money sending traffic to a poor quality product that has a poor converting sales page, and a poor quality customer experience.

Your job as an affiliate is to establish a basic level of trust and rapport with your website visitors and readers. Off the back of that, you then need to make product recommendations that people will trust. Do not abuse that trust or waste that effort by sending people to a poor product. No one wins!

Element 3 – A Good Traffic Source

A lot of you probably thought that the third element was going to be; “a good website”. But whilst that is important, and helpful to have a good website, it is NOT necessary. In fact, you don’t even really need your own website at all. You just need a page or a place to send your visitors.

What is CRUCIAL in every affiliate promotion, is that the traffic you are sending is targeted and quality traffic. For example, if you were promoting an English product about making money online, it would be pretty pointless getting the majority of your traffic from Brazil and China, as a lot of the people from those territories do not speak English (I am not saying you cannot get quality traffic from these countries, but if you are English and promoting English products, its best to focus on getting the majority of your traffic from English-speaking countries).

Make sure you are getting quality traffic, and make sure it is targeted, and that the people who are visiting your site and using your affiliate link will be glad you sent them to the product you are promoting.

If all 3 of these elements are present in your affiliate marketing campaigns, then with just a little effort you WILL succeed! These are the basic foundations of a good campaign, and I hope this provides the short-hand checklist you might have been looking for in your affiliate marketing.

A business owner can get a sense of the marketer’s skill and drive from his or her stable of sites.

There’s a lot of competition for marketers out there, especially established, quality marketers. Your best bet is to offer very attractive terms—a higher commission than the competition or a unique link layout. It should go without saying that your own site is well designed. An affiliate marketer wants to make a sale just as much as you do, and marketers won’t sign up with a site that is poorly constructed. Offer a good site and a good product and you’ll bring in more affiliate marketers. All this said, it is no surprise that affiliate marketing is growing at such an exponential rate. It is as important to business as any other type of marketing.
